Wellcome Trust data included into Open APC

In 2014 the Wellcome Trust started to make its APC expenditures publicly available. The latest data has now been processed and added to Open APC’s data collection.

About the dataset

The dataset contributed by the Wellcome Trust contains information on publication fees covering a time span from October 2014 to September 2015 (Note that Open APC treats this data as having all been processed in the 2015 period).

Cost Data

The dataset covers publication fees for 2,823 articles. Total expenditure amounts to 7 277 264€ and the average fee is 2 578€.

The following table shows the payments the Wellcome Trust has made to publishers in 2015 (including taxes and discounts).

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg joins OpenAPC

We welcome the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) as new contributing institution! The University Library of Erlangen-Nürnberg is in charge of the University’s Open Access Publishing Fund, which is supported under the DFG’s Open Access Publishing Programme.

The initial dataset contributed by the FAU contains information on publication fees paid in 4 years from 2012 to 2015.

The dataset covers publication fees for 402 articles. Total expenditure amounts to 551 812€ and the average fee is 1 373€.

Leibniz Association's open access fund updates its 2016 APC data

The Open Access Publishing Fund of the Leibniz Association has updated its APC expenditures. The latest contribution provides additional data for the 2016 period.

Data is provided by Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) – German National Library of Science and Technology. TIB is operating the open access fund together with ZB MED – Leibniz Information Centre for Life Sciences and ZBW – German National Library of Economics – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics.

For 2016, the publishing fund is funded by resources from the strategy fund of the Leibniz Association Executive Board in the amount of 200,000 €.

Cost Data

The new dataset covers additional publication fees for 30 articles covered by the fund in 2016 YTD.

Please note that APCs exceeding 2,000 EUR are shared between the fund and the corresponding Leibniz institution and that this data set only covers payments made via the central open access publishing fund.

With the recent contribution included, total expenditure for the 2016 period amounts to 92,730€ and the average fee is 1,656€. The following table provides an overview:
