University Library Heidelberg joins OpenAPC

We welcome University Library Heidelberg as our new contributing institution. University Library Heidelberg is in charge of the Heidleberg University Open Access Publishing Fund.

About the dataset

The present dataset contains information on publication fees paid from the budget of Heidelberg University’s open access publishing fund for 2014. The fund is part of DFG’s Open Access Publishing Programme. Due to a pre-pay membership with BioMed Central (leading to a discount of 20% on publication fees from this publisher) a few funding applications from 2014 are still pending, because the respective article manuscripts are still under review. Nevertheless the corresponding financial resources were spent already in 2014 in order to top up the BioMed Central membership account. Thus, the present dataset for 2014 is not complete yet. The dataset covers publication fees for 83 articles, which the fund covered in 2014 so far. Total expenditure amounts to 112 238€ and the average fee is 1 352€.

Max Planck Digital Library updates expenditures for Springer journal articles

Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) provides institutional funding for Open Access publications for researchers affiliated with the Max Planck Society. MPDL makes use of central agreements with Open Access publishers. It has now updated expenditures for Open Access articles in Springer Science + Business Media journals.

Please note that article processing charges funded locally by Max Planck Institutes are not part of this data set. The Max Planck Society has a limited input tax reduction. The refund of input VAT for APC is 20%.

Cost data

The data set covers publication fees for 438 articles published in Springer journals by MPG researchers, which MPDL covered from 2007 until 2014. Total expenditure amounts to 527 488€ and the average fee is 1 204€.
